Radio Free Texas

Terms of Service

Last updated October 13, 2026

These terms cover your use of Radio Free Texas: the website, the streams, accounts, and anything you buy from us. Radio Free Texas is a for-profit internet radio station operated by RFT Media LLC (“we”). By using the site or the streams you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

The service

Radio Free Texas streams Texas music on several channels. It is a non-interactive webcast: the station decides what plays and when. A request is a suggestion that the programming system weighs against rotation and legal limits, not an order. A request never guarantees that a particular song will play at a particular time, or at all.

The Vault holds recordings from the station's archive. They are for streaming on this site only; we do not offer them as downloads, and you may not copy or redistribute them.

Streams can drop and features can change or end. We don't promise the service will always be available.

Who can use it

You must be at least 13 to create an account. We don't knowingly allow accounts for anyone under 13 and will close any we find. If you are under 18, you need a parent or guardian's permission to buy anything, and they are responsible for the purchase.

Your account

  • One person, one account. Give us a real email address you control.
  • Keep your password private. You are responsible for activity on your account.
  • If you had an account on the original Radio Free Texas community (2005–2013), it was carried over. It stays dormant until you claim it with a password reset, and these terms apply once you do.
  • We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, games requests or charts, or puts the station at legal risk. You can ask us to delete your account at any time; see the Privacy Policy.

Requests and credits

Every account gets a free daily allowance of Lone Star Credits for requests. You can also buy credit packs. Credits pay for features on this site: requests past the free allowance, on-air dedications, and moving your own request up the line.

  • Credits have no cash value. You can't sell, transfer, or cash them out.
  • Free credits and credits refunded to you as credits can't be exchanged for money.
  • We can correct balances caused by errors, and remove credits gained through fraud, multiple accounts, or abuse.
  • Each account has limits on how many requests it can have waiting. Paid and free credits face the same limits.

Airplay is never for sale

No one can pay to put a song into rotation, to move it up our charts, or to get it a guaranteed number of plays. What airs is decided by the station's programming system and staff.

Here is exactly what money does and doesn't do:

  • Credits. Buying credits lets you make more requests than the free allowance. A request made with purchased credits counts the same as a free one, no more. Requests are one of the signals our programming uses, so each account's requests are capped and screened for fraud.
  • Artists and their teams. Artists, managers, labels, promoters, and anyone they pay may not use purchased credits or multiple accounts to request their own music. We discount those requests and may close the accounts.
  • Featured placements are labeled spots on the website. They do not change rotation, charts, or airplay.
  • Advertising and sponsorships air in breaks or as announced sponsor credits, separate from the music. Buying them gives no say over what music plays. See the Ad Terms.

Purchases

Payments are processed by Stripe. Prices are in U.S. dollars and shown before you pay. We never see or store your full card number. What you can buy:

  • Credit packs, added to your balance once payment clears.
  • Featured placements for a verified artist's single: a 30-day placement, or a placement for the life of the single on the site. Each runs after staff approve it.
  • RFT for Artists, a monthly analytics subscription. It renews automatically each month at the price shown until you cancel. Cancel any time from the subscription page; you keep access until the end of the period you paid for.
  • Advertising, under the Ad Terms.

Purchases from Radio Free Texas are payments to a business. They are not charitable donations and are not tax-deductible.

Refunds

  • Credit packs. If you haven't spent any credits from a pack, email us within 14 days of buying it and we'll refund it in full. Spent credits are not refundable. When a pack is refunded or charged back, its remaining credits are removed.
  • Dedications. Staff review every dedication before it airs. If we decline one, the credits go back to your balance as credits.
  • Moving up the line. Credits spent to move a request up are not refunded once the request airs.
  • Featured placements. If we decline your placement before it starts, we refund it in full. If we end a placement early for a reason other than a breach of these terms, we refund the unused part.
  • Subscriptions. No refunds for partial months. If you cancel, the subscription stops renewing and stays active to the end of the paid period.
  • Advertising. Covered in the Ad Terms.

To ask for a refund, email info@radiofreetexas.com from your account's address. Nothing here limits any right you have under law.

Your content

“Your content” means anything you give us: dedications, artist bios, photos and links, music you submit, and ad creative. You keep ownership of it. You give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, broadcast, and adapt it (for example, resizing a photo) to run and promote the station. The license for a piece of content ends when we remove it, except for copies already broadcast, in backups, or in records we must keep.

  • Dedications are read on air by a computer-generated voice and may appear on the site. Staff review them first and can decline any of them.
  • Submitted music may be reviewed and, if we add it, broadcast on our channels under the station's music licenses.
  • You promise you have the right to give us your content and that it doesn't infringe anyone else's rights. Artist pages may be claimed only by the artist or someone they authorize.

Conduct

Don't:

  • use bots, scripts, multiple accounts, or coordinated groups to pad requests, ratings, or charts;
  • put advertising, phone numbers, web addresses, or promotions in dedications;
  • post anything unlawful, hateful, harassing, sexually explicit, or false about a real person;
  • impersonate an artist, a business, or our staff;
  • scrape the site, overload it, re-broadcast our streams, or get around any security or limit.

We can remove content and limit or close accounts that break these rules.

Copyright and DMCA

We respect copyright. If you believe something on the site infringes your copyright, send a notice to our designated agent with:

  • your physical or electronic signature;
  • the copyrighted work you say is infringed;
  • the material you want removed and where it is on the site (a URL is best);
  • your name, address, phone number, and email;
  • a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn't authorized by the owner, its agent, or the law; and
  • a statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorized to act for the owner.

Designated agent: Copyright Agent, Radio Free Texas, PO Box 167, Nederland, TX 77627. Email: info@radiofreetexas.com (subject line “DMCA”). Registration with the U.S. Copyright Office DMCA agent directory is in progress.

If we remove something you posted and you believe that was a mistake, you can send a counter-notice to the same address with the details required by 17 U.S.C. §512(g). We will close the accounts of repeat infringers.

Disclaimers and liability

The service is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We are not responsible for third-party sites we link to.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, and our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or $50.

Changes, ending, and Texas law

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version; if a change is significant, we'll say so on the site or by email. Using the service after a change means you accept it.

You can stop using the service at any time. We can suspend or end it, or your access, as described above.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas and applicable federal law. Disputes go to the state or federal courts serving Jefferson County, Texas, unless the law where you live says otherwise.
